ATLANTA, GA 鈥� 2 September 2015 鈥� In an open online survey conducted by 乐竞体育官方入口 Global, a strong majority of respondents 鈥� 80 percent -- said that corporate wellness initiatives represent a "significant trend," while only 20 percent said that they were a "passing fad."
And, more than 62 percent reported that their companies had instituted wellness initiatives in the last six months; 38 percent said that they had not.
"These results show the growing importance that companies are placing on wellness programs," said Tim Venable, 乐竞体育官方入口 Global's Senior Vice President, Knowledge and Research.
While the results are based on an informal quick poll that was posted to the 乐竞体育官方入口 Global home page and open to anyone who visited, Venable said they are consistent with the findings of Corporate Real Estate Forums held around the world in which corporate real estate professionals share insights and best practices.
"Many companies today are recognizing that in order to attract and retain talented workers, and help them be healthy and productive, they must pay attention to wellness issues," Venable said. "In addition, as more and more research demonstrates that traditional work habits such as prolonged sitting and lack of movement during the day are potentially harmful, corporate wellness programs have the potential to lead to a transformation in workplace design."
Examples of corporate wellness include areas to stand and walk while working, energy-absorbing flooring, and enhanced air and water filtration. In 2014 the corporate headquarters of CBRE in Los Angeles was the recipient of 乐竞体育官方入口 Global's Global Innovator's Award. The headquarters building is the first to be certified under the "WELL" Building Standard pilot program.
